Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hello guys,
I've been shooting quite a bit of 4K footage lately (I don't do this professionally, just for personal use e.g. vacations, etc) and I really need something to archive old footage as my 1TB HD on my desktop is full.
The amount of options out there is a bit overwhelming. I do like the Lacie Rugged HDs, but you do pay a bit of a premium for them. The other option is to go with normal HDs and then buy a docking station for them. I originally thought about going with an NAS system like Synology, but that gets expensive quick.
What do you guys recommend?
Thanks!

Hello
All USB hard drives are consumer grade products and are not designed for mission critical storage.( Consumer products are designed for Teens / Home users only.
I suggest to use following Desktop PC configuration only , Lacie or any other rugged enclosure drives dont manufacture hdd's but only usb enclosures.
1) Toshiba Enterprise Hard disk in Raid 1 as a basic config. ( Depending upon budget you can choose higher raid levels
2) Seasonic or any good quality PSU
3) HDDcooler or any other hard disk cooling system.
4) APC or any other good quality UPS
