Samsung ST500LM011 troubleshooting queries

April 8th, 2019, 3:59

Hi all, I am new to hard drive troubleshooting. The troubled hard drive is samsung Model: ST500LM011. Nothing shows on laptop when the drive is connected. I dissembled and found the head not stuck. When connected the platters spin and the head moves back and forth. It keeps moving without a rest. So, I was wondering what the possible problems are. How can I fix them? I tried attaching a video (avi and mp4 format) for convenience but could not upload.
Thank you

naziullah, You shouldn't disassemble it, unless on a Class 100 clean room. And if you turned it on with the upper protection opened, chances are that you screwed it even more.
Sorry, but if the data on it were important, i would say bye bye :( ...

As parmindio say,hdd cannot open normal environment.
if heads are continues moving, it means heads not working properly. i think still there is a recovery chance if you contact DR proffesional.

note - if you are willing to do Data Recover you should learn lot of thing about Data Recovery. bec. hard drives are not like an engine or gearbox. they are very sensitive and if any wrong decision Data lost forever.
so if you have any question you can ask from this forum. lot of persons will help you.
