xxx-ST1000LX015 Seagate SSHD 1tb- dead after power cut-xxxx

hello people.
i have a Seagate FireCuda 1TB,Internal,5400 RPM,6.35 cm (2.5") (ST1000LX015) SSHD, it was working fine no clicking noises no over heating no, nothing. ater a power failur in my house, on rebooting my laptop the harddrve was dead.
on inspecting the drive no burns no harm to pc board, the hard drive has no power no spinning up when i plug it in. i tersted to see if it was the drive it self i replaced tge pcb boad with the same one same firmware same serial the drive spon up but no access to data
i put my original board back on does not spin put my dead board on other hard-rive no spin hn pplied power. i have now put my pcb board back on the original hard drive
with that said how do i get into Terminal mode on a dead HARD DRIVE? i have tried using usb cable.

it does not work some times corrupt text appears unreadable. am i doing something wrong? all i am trying to do is resets smart drive and look at logs can you do this in terminal on a dead drive?

your serial adapter seems to support 3.3V or 5V IO voltage levels, which is not appropriate for this drive, since it works at 1.8V.
So you will likely receive no output from the drive through this adapter.
Using an 1.8V capable adapter can help but the drive might be silent anyway due to pcb/NAND errors, so it is hard to sort it out without proper equipment.

I have to agree, it’s almost certainly an issue with the NAND memory preventing spin up but not exclusively.
But one thing is for sure, you’re wasting you’re time trying to “reset smart” I’m afraid
These ones are very difficult, even for most DR companies so DIY is going to be out of the question in this case. Sorry!

yes, the adapter could only help for initial diags, this is not a DIY case surely

They are correct, you need a UART with 1.8V levels to interface to the diagnostic port on this drive. This part will work but you need to solder some pins on the RX and TX lines for the link:

However, you may not get very far with it as Seagate has locked the diagnostic ports on most of these drives. And you will likely not even be able to start a terminal session with the drive in the failed state. You should be able to start a session with the donor drive but perhaps not accomplish much because the port is likely locked. Might be worth checking though.
