ST500DM002 - KC48 No terminal access

December 1st, 2019, 23:35

Hello friends. I'm with a little trouble on a study drive here.
It spins normally, BIOS SAP information shows his actual Serial Number, but whenever I try to turn it on on MRT, terminal console shows this:

Boot 0x10M
Spin Up[0x00000000][0x0000B67C][0x0000BA10]
Trans.

Rst 0x10M
MC Internal LPC Process
Spin Up
(P) SATA Reset

Ctrl+Z doesn't change anything, neither firmware unlock.
Should I try read pins shortcut? This is the PCB and the BIOS dump (that is not recognized by F3romExplorer, but I can read SAP information using MRT).

Thank you so much for any help.

MindMergepk, Thank you so much for your reply.

I tried it lots of times, in different moments of the device initialization, and when I got something different from my first post, it shows this:

Boot 0x10M
Spin Up[0x00000000][0x00000000]ZZZZMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMddddddWWWWMMMMMM
FAIL Servo Op=0155 Resp=0007
ResponseFrame 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 000A
RECOV Servo Op=0055 Resp=0005x[0x00025CB4][0x00025CB4]ZZZZMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM[0x0000B319][0x0000B67C][0x0000BA10]
Trans.

Rst 0x10M
MC Internal LPC Process
Spin Up
(P) SATA Reset

I know my questions are really newbie, but I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if there is another thing that I should try.
Thanks again for any help.

Because You have MRT, I suggest you to use Virtual start function to get Terminal access, I do that instead of short read channel.

+1

Often the timing is critical, and also the length of time to hold the short and when to let go...

Thank you guys, you are really kind.

siamak5561, I'm trying to use virtual start on MRT, but any of the patch options are doing well, showing "Patch Failure!" message.

mr_spokk, pcimage, Thank you for your reply.. I'll try again if Virtual Start doesn't let me to anywhere

siamak5561, I've trying the same on the newer version of MRT software.. same failure.

On step 3 of Virtual start you have to load a "loader" file, module 3D or filesys 20D in order to continue.....You did not load anything on that step and that's why it gives you "Patch failure" error.

Please read this article until the end to understand how things work:

+1 to what the others said about timing, sometimes I can try 10 to 20 times with some Seagates to get the timing right. #nevergiveup ;)
