Rosewood SSHD Firecuda - method to patch ROM?

December 5th, 2019, 6:20

Is there a method available (publicly or privately) to patch the ROM on one of these? The drive in question is ST1000LX015-1U7172 family 8C.

PC3K currently unable to (obviously).

Thank you.

does the drive work and you need to unlock it only, or it does not work at all?

The drive does initialise, however there are some bad areas (perhaps even a weak head) for H0 according to terminal. I want to headmap this drive and perform some SA changes and establish preamp revision which is why I want to patch ROM.

I managed to solve this without patching ROM by leaving the drive to 'settle' for a few hours and imaging it backwards with a long timeout and small block size, good result. Got lucky this time around.
