ST500LM021

Hello
Drive in topic makes a strange behavior, image at high speed ( ~100 MB ) approx. 260000 sectors and after that read error approx. 260000, and so on till the rest of the drive.

any suggestions ?

Simple. one of its heads is weak.

I wish it was that easy. :)
Heads tested on donor drive and working perfectly.

build hm in DE and verify. You might find it head related...
If so, tune adaptives or try another head set.

Already tried all of that, sir.
And tried to tune adaptives for both heads separated but no luck.
Sorry for the bad quality of picture.
I think that some one has already messed with trans, am I right?

Unfortunately, on both sides (0,1).
Two sides make the same behavior.
I believe it's a defect list/s and/or trans problem.

it would be very hard to produce such problem with the translator. In case of a translator corruption You have either no LBA access at all or you have partial access up to a specific LBA but not such intermittent access you described.

First sectors and last sectors are readable so there's complete LBA access.
This is very odd, first time see such case.

the head map built by DE might be shifted due to MC. Thus you get the illusion that the unreadable areas are on both heads but in fact they are not.
