I have received a External HDD from my friend saying that the HDD has been locked. The data in it are very much important and the brand is HGST. Please help me to unlock it without losing data.

You could use the recovery key given to you when you locked the device....
If you have no recovery key, that sucks... you've to format it in order to use it and all the data will be lost!
