I'm looking for ROM and loader for WDC WD2001FASS-00U0B0 drive.
The PCB is OK, but a wrong F/W was written in the ROM and the original one is not known.
The PCB number is 2060-771624-001 REV P1 and on the sticker 2061-771624-700 .

I would use a known fw ver and start with a loader, then read SA and find out orig version. I'm pretty sure that doesn't sound like news to you.

It should be something bad?
And why you should pay for something that is free for everyone who want to leave company email?
How come someone who shares something becomes bad?
We put time and effort to build this, we gave it to all our collages. For end users who want to fix their drives and spam with questions were is exe, or ones who do not want to leave email
we made option to pay one euro...
Plus you can allways send email for help if you neeed...
Not nice.

OK. I'm not an end user and I don't have a company email. So I have to pay 1 euro? Any bank transfer would cost much more... or should I throw one euro to Belgrade?

The whole idea about communicating is that you let someone be right at least for things they know better then you.
You are right there is not milion, but for one administrator 7000 application in 2-3 years is a lot. And this is only after system change.
Every morning i get emails about registration of new users. And you would be suprised how many non DR pro's applay.
10.000 firmware files downloaded last year, less then 5% payed. Calculate...it took us 3 years to be on 0 what we payed company to make the soft, plus my work
every day on 10-20 applications. From this 9500 firmware files, if 1000 have been good recoveries I am happy we helped.
All the firmware files you see on site are from our recovery office. We extract them from patients and donors we use. We put them and share them. When you we read modules from hdd, they get packed and uploaded every Friday. ( if soft does not crash )
Plus we pay Amazon for every download that is made. In past we did not have this sistem and you could register with no name or anything.
I was looking at statistic and you could clearly see people who made robots and downloading whole DB from different users.
So to recap, we made it shared it. Everyone can use it. It is free. I tried to stop novice users or end users playing with drives we all get for recovery.
Did not share any tips or anything, it is help for all of us. It is biggest DB you can find on line and most up to date.
If you do not like it is ok, but do not make me bad guy. At least not for this.

This fw database is a lifesaver. We use it literally everyday and it has helped us save A LOT of time. And it is free.
All I can say is a huge thank you to hddsurgery for this.

The case is solved a few months ago without using your "lifesaver" database.
You may open another thread if you wish....
