Recover BitLocker Encrypted External Hard Drive

October 2nd, 2020, 1:20

Hi all, this is my first post here so please bare with me.

I was given an external hard drive by a customer to try and recover data - apparently the drive has important university work on etc, and needs to be recovered at all costs. Also supplied with the drive, was a flash drive containing about 6 different recovery keys (Only 1 out of the 6 would be for the hard drive, and finding the right one is proving to be a very time consuming process.

Upon plugging the drive in, I could see it showed up as unallocated space. I was advised to create a new partition which would then show up as RAW, and then attempt recovery. I currently have access to M3 Bitlocker recovery, and HasLeo Bitlocker recovery, and so far results of those two are not looking promising, as I am uncertain I am entering the right Bitlocker key.

Firstly, how on earth am I able to verify that I am entering the right key, and secondly what are my best options at programs to recover the data.

Thanks

Did you clone it first?

Did you verify first there's any data at all?
