I've got an old IDE drive in and don't have an old PC to connect it to. There seem to be plenty of adapters available. Does anybody have any recommendations as to which to buy?

Any, you are only going to use it once on that drive aren't you?

Ive used cheap ones from eBay and had no issues

It all depends on how old the drive is. If it predates LBA (ie CHS), then you may find that the more recent bridges won't work. ISTR that users have been successful with Marvell bridges. Some are bidirectional.

It's a 250gb WD Caviar from 2005. I'll buy a cheap adapter from ebay..
