Cannot create ROM modules from SA modules

December 9th, 2020, 1:58

I'm currently having issues trying to rebuild my problem HDD's ROM after installing a new PCB to finish HDD repair. I'm currently using WDMarvel Demo so I'll know that reading SA modules for rebuilding ROM modules won't be an issue. However, this is what I see:
WDMarvel Demo - Issues with reading ROM modules from SA - 2nd attempt.GIF
Result of reading copies from SA.

When I opened "Modules operations" under "S/A operations" and performed "Check all modules", this is what it found:
WDMarvel Demo - SA Modules found.GIF
Modules found on SA

Now, how do I create ROM modules from SA modules at this point? Or should I rebuild the SA modules instead and if so, how? Or what should I do instead? Aside from the HDD, I only have an eSATA-SATA cable, an eSATA ExpressCard/34 adapter, and a laptop with an ExpressCard/54 slot.

Your HDD has bad heads so you can't do anything (exept ruine the drive).

I should also mention this. Prior to frying the old PCB, the drive worked fine. There were no bad heads. Even after the new board is installed, I don’t hear any scraping sounds.

When you "fried" the PCB, did it look like this?

Catastrophic failures in Western Digital PCBs:

If so, then you may have damaged the preamp.

No, it doesn’t. MCU remained unharmed.

Can you show us a photo of your PCBs (HDD and USB-SATA bridge)?

Sure!
Here's what the old PCB looks like:
