Hitachi 250GB - MAR-2010

December 14th, 2020, 19:05

Hi all, I'm playing around with hard drives again.

Got this drive and was just playing with it. Seems it works generally fine but has developed bad sectors on some parts of the system area and makes partitioning the drive fail. Drive seems to work and can recover data that was on it, but when trying to erase the drive, or make a new partition it fails. Seems to be bad sectors, I would like to send a command through terminal for make the drive self-scan itself and rebuild its P-list, but from searching the forums it seems terminal commands don't do this, only though the serial interface with special software. Is this correct?
