WD20SDRW - 11VUUSO - New Encrytpion V2

Hello

Have you met with the new version of data encryption on these drives (and other WD?) ??

PC3K is unable to decrypt the data image.

You can correct some FW issue if you need to through an unlocked SATA board.
But the drive needs to be recovered via the USB board.

there's multiple ways to aproach this issue, but yes, it is more complicated than former families.

Starting with certain FW revisions ALL WD drives(excluding HGST drives) that support encryption use unique keys inside CPU to encrypt user data keys.
It means that in order to decrypt data you would have to use original CPU. You can either use the whole original PCB or transfer CPU to another PCB SATA/USB. There is currently no way around original CPU.

Nobody can, so far.
