Seagate ST2000NM001A Load Cycle Count fast increasing

January 21st, 2021, 15:48

Hello, everyone! Sorry for my bad English.

I has a ST2000NM001A (FW N03) Exos 7e8 brand new hard drive. I bought it at January 15. It has Load Cycle Count 2 or 3 out of the box. I installed it in my system and suddenly noticed strange clicking/chirping sounds when PC is idle. I called SMART from drive and it says that C1 (Load Cycle Count) is about 8600. Only few days past. Drive works fine, all tests in HD Tune Pro is good.
I crawled in WEB for solution and found it - Disable APM permanently by HDAT2 Utility. I made bootable stick, but HDAT2 says that there is no APM and DCO modes. Sp i am stuck for now.

Can you provide any suggestions but throw this drive to trash or use it in less critical application?
