Old 20 GB Seagate PCB swap

February 26th, 2021, 6:06

Hello All,
I have and old Seagate that many years ago failed during a PC "smoke event" when I tried to turn on the PC. It didn't turn on and almost immediately I noticed some smoke coming from behind the case, and in this event I lost a few hardware parts.
The PCB of this HDD (SG20109-300 REVA) shows a small crack in one of the chips (Taiwan), which I suppose happened during the aforementioned occasion.
I'd like to ask the experts if I swap the PCB (if I find a suitable one first) it will work right on, or I will need to transplant the ROM chip.
Thank you!

I think you just need to match the firmware.
