Hi Friends
I have got a case where after formating C drive default Bitklocker key is lost and drives have become inaccessible. I want to know whether my version of UDMA supports bitlocker decryption. (Its old and not updated )
PC3000 V6.4.19.6730
DE version -- 5.7.8 (U) 3374

Formatting a bitlocker partition under an OS that supports bitlocker deletes all metadata (ie keys), so the chances are equal to that of breaking the encryption itself. (unless you have the metadata exported from its working age.)

Hi pepe Thanks for replying.
Actually disk is having 3 partitions ,out of which only C drive is formatted rest 2 are untouched .However when disk is connected to secondary typical bitlocker key insertion pop up does not come. I hope bitlocker metadata from other partitions is intact.

You are right pepe , I have checked with another updated DE ,but decryption not possible in this case as protectors seems to be strong.
Unfortunately no one in the world can recover data now.

While DE bitlocker support is great, it is not perfect.
Last month I recovered all data from a Bitlocker partition DE said was not possible to decrypt
If partitions other than C drive were really not touched, and you know user password or recovery key, maybe there is still hope.
Feel free to PM if you are interested
