Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi friends,
I have a 2tb WD hard drive. When I am attaching it in my laptop, the light in the hard drive is getting on. The drive is rotation without any unusual sound. The drive icon is appearing in windows explorer, with the usual drive letter along with a triangle on left indication it has folders under it. But as soon as I am trying to open explorer is getting busy.
Same thing happening is disk manager or Steller software.
I am using windows 7.
I am not a computer expert, but as the HDD contains many of my company's information, I am hesitant to give it to a data recovery shop.
I need help from you to at least copy the content.

yeah, usually DR shops use/sell client data, so never trust them / us...
DR shops are for recovering worthless data that nobody cares about, for unreasonably high prices, right?
Aren't there logical mistakes in this flow of thoughts?
your drive is probably having some surface problems and background task bsy. It may get worse if you torture it under windows but you may be lucky to get it cloned with HddSuperclone before it dies...

One more thing to consider: can you afford loosing most/all of the data on the drive? If not, stop experimenting with methods you are not familiar with and contact somebody who is. There is
Amarbir in Chandigarh, you might contact him for a quote. I am sure your data would not be compromised.

Hi, Friends
Thanks for all your help and suggestions. Last night I did something, which I learned from a you tube video.
In command prompt, I executed this commands before attaching the HDD
Diskpart
automount disable
automount scrub
Then I attached the HDD and now it is visible in Steller software. So now I am recovering the data. Thankfully, no data is lost.
