Microsoft Surface Pro Bitlocker Recovery.

April 8th, 2022, 8:06

Hi Friends
I have got a case of microsoft surface pro bitlocker recovery (Surface pro model 1866) . Suddenly it is showing bitlocker encryption. Customer says he is not aware of what is bitlocker.
Chances are that customers IT dept has previously enabled bitlocker.
Manage-bde shows TPM+numerical key and key as protectors. Customer is not having microsoft account so microsoft was unable to help.
Is there anything I can try. I think this is embedded type device and not a laptop.
I tried to boot from winpe which shows 2 partitions but it does not show Bitlocker related information.
I have disabled secure bot from bios . I will try to clone 500GB SSD into SATA SSD so that further process can be done safely.
(internal storage is embedded and directly soldered ).I am going to give it a try using hddsuperclone .
What should I do in this case. Any expert guideline will help .

If you don't have keys there's no way to access data. I've been using BGA adapter, works great but you still need the keys.

Hi suricate.ch
Thanks for replying. Yes you are right I might succeed in imaging disk which will be of no use without recovery key /password.
Protectors here is TPM as well but again its of no use as we can't read TPM directly.
