Which hdd to use in Thecus N7700+?

April 26th, 2022, 12:56

Hi, I want to upgrade my Thecus N7700+ RAID 5 (Now it i s a 7*2 Tb Array). The official size of the biggest hd supported is 4 Tb. Someone can tell me for sure if I can use other bigger hdds and which ones? I don't want to buy something useless or having problem of corrupted data later. I'm not able to find a list of supported hdds. Please answer only if really sure about the answer.
Thanks.

Any hardware that supports a 4Tb drive can typically support larger sizes too. Having said that, the Thecus software might not support it. I don't see anything online to say one way or the other. Honestly, I've never even heard of the brand until just now.

I think you'll need to just try it out, and if it doesn't work buy yourself something proper like a Synology to replace it.
