Blown TVS Diode on Seagate 8TB

October 22nd, 2022, 20:39

I burned out a TVS diode on a Seagate 8TB drive (ST800NMN0055).

I can see the burnt diode (see picture), not sure if this is the 5V or the 12V?

I've removed the diode but the drive doesn't spin up. I'm assuming I need to solder over a fuse?
Can someone help me what needs to be done next?

That's not a TVS diode -- it's a 12V electronic fuse (NIS5132):

The solution is to run a bridging wire from Vin (Vdd) to Vout (Source). Make sure there are no shorts between Vout and ground.

Thanks for the info!

So if I understand right, just one connection from here to here (See picture)?

No, don't do that.

Do this:

Ahh thank you for the clarification!

One bridge wire from 12Vin to 12Vout or 3?

Thank you for the help!!
