Hdd doesn't show up in BIOS after Win7 to Win10 Format

December 21st, 2022, 1:44

Hi, I was using windows 7 ultimate. Before the windows installation I unplugged the sata cable from my harddisk. After the installation I plugged it back(while the pc was off) but it didn't start. It doesn't even get warm. I am sure the cables and the HDD are working (they were just a minute before the installation). I tried changing bios settings and cables. Also I tried "bootrec fixboot" type of solutions. The harddrive just doesn't start at all. I've been trying to find a solution for 6 hours now but I couldn't find any problem similar to this on the internet. Please help me!

Info about the system:

Ryzen 5 1600 - MSI b-450m mortar - some chineese ssd - Seagate 500gb about 10 years old harddrive
It was Windows 7 ultimate installed as MBR-legacy to an ssd. I've installed win 10 22h2 with rufus non-uefi legacy option selected.

Addition: It has 4 pin jumper slots. When I touched the first 2 (from the sata cable side) with screwdriver it started. I guess it started in reduced power spinup mode. I don't know what that means, I just figured while trying to get it run. What that means? Why was it working without a jumper but now needs one? Is there way to make it work without a jumper as I don't have one in my home right now.

Does the drive detect in BIOS?

No it doesn't. I managed to make it run by inserting nail between first 2 pins. I don't have jumper. Why does it require jumper now? It was working without it for more than 10 years. I don't understand.

So now it's working normally but you need to use jumper?
Or you mean you managed to make it spin up but it's still not detected?
Does it click when it's spinning?
