Format password locked Toshiba MQ01ABU050W

Hi.

I got a lot of discarded disks that can't be formatted. Apparently they were blocked using bitlocker but I'm not 100% sure.

Smart info shows:
ATA Security: ENABLED, PW level MAX, **LOCKED** [SEC4]

And lots of Interface CRC errors.

Could I low level format them or use them in any way? I couldn't do anything using dd or dban, nor any other tool that I know of.

Maybe there's an IC that could changed or re-programmed?

You need to remove the ATA lock first ....
Options are trying ZU

I just found a thread about this ZU utility and will definitely give it a try.

buying firmware tools like PC-3000/MRT

I can't find anybody that sells this locally. Looks quite nice though.

Would you please elaborate more on that? What are the VSCs?

Spildit, nice to see you again, but ZU doesn't support MQ01ABU050W. For this drive need proper tools as you tell him PC3k, or MRT.
