HGST HDD won't work

One of the HGST HDDs, gave up .. not accessible anymore. It does seem to spin down with some soft clicks after power on. Windows would assign a drive letter but fails to access the drive. Seem the host keep trying to access the drive repeatedly.
I suspect some sort mechanical problem.. Is there anything can be done to fix this problem? I do have a similar HDD with the same firmware on it but not sure if swapping the PCB would help in this case?

Thanks

Going to open it up and examine the drive

If you don't know what you are doing, it's a bad idea.

If you open it in a non-clean environment, touch the platters, or otherwise pollute the platters it will cost you more money to retrieve the data. I keep constantly seeing drives that are opened by someone's "IT-expert" uncle and the platters are full of grease, etc. Those still can be cleaned and recovered but it will cost you more and it also lowers the data recovery success rate.

Just take it to some professional data recovery lab. Most likely it's a mechanical issue based on the description, so don't power it on...
