WD10JMVW-11AJGS2 - No access to SA after head swap

Hey guys! I am new to hard drive data recovery so bear with me . I would appreciate some thoughts on this.

I have an external drive that came in, with the heads stuck on the platters near the ramp.

The original drive is:
WD10JMVW-11AJGS2
DCM: ebktjhk

The donor drive is:
MDL: WD10JMVW-11AJGS2
DCM: HBMTJHK
18 JUN 2015
S/N: WXA1A45P1206
Product of Malaysia

I converted to SATA and transferred ROM. The drive will spin up fine, but will not show proper ID on pc3000. I did swap the heads back to the donor and they work fine. From what I have looked up, the heads should be compatible on this model by just matching "TJ"? Or am I mistaken?

those heads should be compatible for reading, maybe not for writing, which may have caused some damage to the SA.
what tools do you have? You will need sg to access firmware and clone the drive, which is painful without good tools...

Move over micro jogs in ROM MOD 47, then try using loader w/donor heads in source HDD. Set HM to 0000 or 1111 and send soft-reset. See if HDD will init. You should run SA test if HDD still spins.

Your right, donor heads should be compatible in the source (TJ).

setting hm to 0000 or 1111 is not a neat idea...

Try match preamp and head type in ROM module 0A, or in SA module 02
