Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hello everyone,
I have a lot of Western Digital HDDs that I periodically test with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics (no longer supported) and am unsure how long I should continue using it, especially on newer drives.
I understand that the technology of HDDs hasn't changed much over the last few years, I just thought it was worth getting an opinion?

Data Lifeguard is only useful if you need an RMA for warranty purposes. Otherwise there are far better tools.
