WD PCB problem WD500BMVW-11AMCS2

WD PCB problem

Hello
I need your advice because I don't understand my problem. I have a WD500BMVW-11AMCS2 usb hard drive which is not recognised by my computer, I have of course tried on other USB ports and even on other computers (mac, Linux and windows).
It runs fine but that's all it does. So I ordered a new PCB 2060-771761-001 and cloned the bios from my old one onto the new pcb.

Now with the new pcb the disk boots 2 times and stops immediately.

I put the old pcb back in and it reboots normally, but still not recognised.

Can you help?
Thanks
I'm sorry for the English, but I'm using an online translator.

Bonjour;

Cloning ROM to donor PCB will not work with your model.

I would guess there is most likely firmware issues present with your drive (when original PCB was used). Most likely secondary translator. It could also be bad sectors. Regrettably if the data is valuable you will need to have it properly diagnosed by someone who has access to professional data recovery tools. WD500BMVW-11AMCS2 is not likely to be a DIY job.

Those Drives aren't SMR so there is no second level translator. These are old 500GB Zephyr Drives.

How did you "clone" the ROM? Did you soldered it?

No use a Ch341 clamp
And then comparing the bios.
I wonder if the receiving card has a problem?

Maybe. But i think your Drive has typical Slow-Responding Issue due to Sector-Errors. So when the Data is critical, don't power on the Drive anymore and give it to a data recovery company.
