Seagate 5tb Hdd

I have purchased Seagate 5tb external hdd Expansion. My computer will not assign a drive letter. It can be seen in the Control Panel/ Devices and Printers but not is disk management or file explorer. Can anyone suggest something? I have not worked with computers for nearly 20 years and am not up to date with current terminology.

Do you hear any unusual sound from inside the box?

Device Manager probably just sees the external box, not the actual drive.
The drive needs to be diagnosed properly.
If data is important, hand it to a professional.
If data not important, then firstly see if it makes any complaining sounds, if not, you need to crack open the external box and connect the drive via sata and attach terminal cable to see what the drive says. Then, you won't be able to 'fix' anything anyway, because these drives have their terminal locked.
