May 12th, 2024, 22:56

Hi everyone. So i have this Seagate 6TB drive ST6000VX001/ 8 Heads with a scratched surface 07

i've changed the heads. i've checked all the platters. Only the top one has scratches
I've tried turning off the heads inside the ROM but haven't been able to find those buttons in PC3000
Can anybody help me edit the ROM to turn off heads 07. Many Thanks!!

Hi,

In PC3K, after uploading the ROM, you can only limit the number of heads...
Try another tool, e.g. F3romExplorer - there you may be able to disable the head selectively...
The last free version F3 ROM Explorer lays here:

Can you upload the original, unpatched and untouched ROM?
The one you uploaded has a logical set up of
0 1 3 4 5 6 7 7
and
heads 6 7 and "7" ruled out.

The unpatched rom should be inside DATA/ROM

Try these.

First try ROM1.bin and then if that doesn't work, try rom2.bin.
