You will be able to read it no problem, but you will need a tool such as MRT or PC3K to unlock the ROM. I'm sure there are people who can unlock it using hex editor, etc. But I imagine it took them a fair bit of work to figure out how, so getting that information shared will be another thing entirely.

The ROM is individual to each Seagate drive. You need to read, unlock and write back original ROM.

it is way more complicated than that. Eventually it is not even the rom that needs to be unlocked.
