At that capacity you will find that an SSD doesn't cost much more than an HDD. In any case, the HDD will most probably be used or refurbished.

You can go for 1TB HDD instead, there's barely any 500GB new HDD.
As for the seller, look for their ratings and ammount of reviews, that will tell you everything you need to know
