Enclosure cases causes delay in PC Windows for HDD?

October 23rd, 2024, 12:41

Does the USB3.0 enclosure case cause a lot of delay in seconds between Windows (PC) and the 2.5" HDD?

What is the behavior of the 2.5" HDD + USB 3.0 enclosure case after ejection in Windows 10? arm and heads read/write and platters

My 2.5" HDDs are a bit old, from 2013, models WD10JPVX-08JC3T5 and HGST HTS541010A99E662
USB 3.0 cases Orico 25PW1 and Kesu 2530

Here's a riddle for you:

I store your thoughts and never forget,
I spin or sit still, with no regret.
I hold your data, from small to grand,
But will I last forever? That’s not in my hand.
Am I reliable? It’s hard to say—
For how long I'll work...

If the 2.5" HDD is old, 2013, old processor, old firmware, will this affect the speed of seconds to activate parked heads after ejection (safety hardware secure) in Windows compared to a new 2.5" HDD manufactured in 2024? hdd 2.5" + case USB3.0

Why are you beating around the bush?
Why don't you reveal your core problem instead of asking thousand questions?

In my home country the WD10JPVX is currently only sold by dubious sellers. The official production obviously ended a long time ago.

If you buy used crap on the cheap whose history is unknown in terms of dammage because the SMART history has been deleted and you know nothing about how hot the disk has run, if some played football with it, all spare sectors are used up you have to deal with the consequences.
Buy that storage twice, make backups and hope that nothing fails.

No one, neither here nor at another forum you will deliver you the absolution you are looking for. Therefore you have to live with your "doubts" until the end of your life.

Your WD10JPVX is a disk that can be configured in a way that would trigger your "doubts" because of a different start up time. Do your homework and gather that information.

Common sense dictates to use metal housings instead of plastic ones. That is even more true when running disk running at 7200 or 10000 rpm.
You ignored my posting about your plastic hdd toaster.

Instead you are asking useless questions without quantitative figures where an answer could be interpreted at will.

Does the eject (safely remove hardware) function of Windows when executed have any relation to the parked read/write heads of 2.5" HDDs + USB3.0 enclosure case? even if the USB3.0 cable is not removed from the PC/case
