Seagate st1000dm003 how to enable smart

January 3rd, 2025, 10:09

How the heck do I enable smart monitoring on the st1000dm003? It now has it disabled (no smart data) and that causes it to crap out smart errors on boot. Firmware is cc43

Can it be turned off?..
Maybe we should remove USB - SATA?

I tried it by sata but that just made w7 unbearably slooow. Plus it makes the hdd detection take >10min and complains about smart c5 issue. Besides cdi didn't launch and hdtune just froze

Did it occur to you that is is actually turned on and the drive has a firmware problem and that it is time to bin it rather than bore us to death with it?
