Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi, I've got a WD10EZEX-75M2NAO where I accidentally let the smoke out of the PCB.
I've read some threads on here about it and elsewhere on webs and most of the time the recommendation is to get a PCB that is close enough and "just" swap the bios chip.
I don't have the kit for that, so is it possible to just get a very similar donor drive and swap the PCB without the bios?
I understand the -75M2NAO is the firmware, and I can see some identical ones on ebay, will those just not work on my drive without swapping bios?
Alternatively if the answer is no, matching the whole or part of DCM?

Buy a 2060-771829-005 (REV A, REV B, REV P1, REV P2 are compatible) PCB. Move the chip labelled U12 from your smoked board to the donor board and you will be fine. Your other comments don’t make much sense and they’re not accurate.
