Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I have run into capacity limits with USB boxes galore. Most recently I ordered a 28TB Seagate Exos hard disk to be able to download every game I own to a disk. Steam can move games around but 28TB should keep a handle on games for a while.
Right now I have a 12TB WD HC520 hard disk and it has revealed some USB boxes choke. So the new 28TB disk is going to be even more demanding.
I use laptop machines so typically one M.2 NVMe slot which tops out at 8rTB at present. Recently Muskin surfaced with a 16TB SATA SSD but some of my machines do have room inside for 7mm SATA devices.
