Palmer72 donor

April 4th, 2025, 7:14

Hello,

Just got my first Palmer72. Looks like any other Palmer, heads look the same, but preamp seem to be different than in normal Palmers. Did anyone confirm that those two models are (un)compatible? In my Palmer72 i get DCM in module 47: GP which i never had in any Palmer so far.
They are quite hard to find. Those in external cases, with the same PN can have both models inside. So far i know that Palmer72 model have the second part starting from -11Axxxx. Mine is WD10SDSW-11AGTS0. Just bought one with -11Axxxx to check if it fits to my case. PCB is 2060-800069-001 so the same as Palmer. Also MCU is the same.
Till now i thought that Palmer72 is WD Black, like WD10SPSX-08A6W. But those from external cases mostly are Blue ones. Also Palmer72 is 7200RPM and Palmers are 5400RPM. https://smarthdd.com/database/WDC-WD10SDSW-11AGTS0/01.01A01/ Just with this info those models shouldn't be compatible.

So my question is if there's any easier way to find those Palmer72 ones in external cases and if they are totally different than Palmer as for heads donor?
