Deleted data on USB WD SMR drive with T2?

June 24th, 2025, 10:09

I have a WD Palmer USB drive from 2021 with deleted data. I've recovered a few formatted and deleted drives with T2 following this: https://blog.acelab.eu.com/western-digi ... ution.html

With USB drives when I get to the step in DE to restore the second level translator it goes through its process for a few minutes then nothing happens, no error. No virtual drive created.
I've unlocked the ROM and have converted the USB board to SATA using the original board.

Am I missing something or is it just not possible on the USB drives?

It is my thought that it should work with the SATA conversion of the original USB board. But it is better to ask ACE TS and report back here with your findings.

It works fine with SATA conversion. Check if you've read the whole module 190. Maybe there were errors.
