Bough "NEW" WD DC HC530 from eaby suspect it is Renewed one

July 13th, 2025, 13:36

Hi Recently I bought WD DC HC530 HDD from ebay seller claiming they are new old stock, but I suspect they are Renewed drives, are there ways to tell if this drive is renewed?
Planning to return it a this point.
Here are few red flags (in my opinion)
1. Seller looked like California seller, but upon purchase i found out it was a Chinese company using Newegg for fulfillment
2.According to WD the drive was sold to Huawei
3. On the first power on power on count was 2 and drive had 0 hours.
4. WD lifeguard has trouble reading SMART data
5. Running Victoria now, already have some red sectors. Not entirely sure what they mean exactly.

Would appreciate any input. Thanks.

The easiest way to verify the originality of the drive is on the manufacturer's website using the serial number (the number on the cover and on the side of the body must be the same).
