My Cloud Home 4tb White flashing light help

Hi,
I have a My Cloud Home 4tb with a White flashing light . Here's the steps I've tried so far to resolve the issue. Im wondering if i buy another my cloud home nas and Swap only the HDD into the donor enclosure could i access my and recover my files? Thanks for any help!

What you’ve tried (in order)

WD My Cloud Home 4TB (single-disk) stopped working normally

LED slow blinking white


Device shows offline in My Cloud Home app

Disk-level tests

Removed the HDD from the enclosure


Connected it to a PC via SATA + external power


Mounted partitions using Paragon (ext4)


Multiple small partitions mount, main data partition not readable


Files appear encrypted → confirms My Cloud Home encryption

Power / hardware checks

Verified original 12V power supply is correct


Unit powers on, disk spins, no clicking noises

Considered alternate PSU (not root cause)

Network diagnostics

Connected My Cloud Home to router and directly to PC

Router assigns IP: 192.168.0.18

Ping works consistently

ARP entry present

Web UI (http://192.168.0.18) → connection refused

SSH (root@192.168.0.18) → connection refused

WD discovery / app cannot bring it online

Reset attempts

Performed short pin reset (1–29 sec) = reboot only (confirmed safe via WD docs)

Waited 10+ minutes

No change: still IP reachable but no services

What this proves
✅ Disk is physically OK
✅ OS boots far enough to get an IP
❌ WD services (web, SMB, SSH) do not start
❌ Direct PC access impossible due to encryption

What the problem most likely is
Firmware / system service failure on the My Cloud Home enclosure, not a disk failure.

drive may be still malfunctioning, it needs precise diag. Cloning is a first step, but if the drive has issues, i don't recommend DIY, coz drive asks for a selective cloning, need to know what to clone first, some other measures may also be required.
you might want to check the smart attribs of your disk and post it here as a first step.

and if it wasn't enough, it is a MyCloud Home thingy, which usually has a proprietary FS on top of an ext4. So you need a great deal of luck to recover it on your own.

yep, that might work, but keep in mind there are multiple versions of the db and folder structure. I also wrote a python script for these back when nothing was available, and things were slightly different. So some luck is still required. Or coding skills.
