WD1600JB problem - bad head???

May 25th, 2005, 6:59

Hard drive is
WD 160 GB , ata
model: WD 1600 JB - 00GVA0

I used SCAN on MHDD and

there are a lot of x-blocks (UNCF) on it.
Near 1/4 of blocks are x-es
I scanned a little part - just near one screen, on different part of disk
( at beginning , middle and near the end)

and they are distributed uniformly (visually).

Does it means that one head is bad......?????

No....

They are

XXXXXXX........

Block of near 256 times of X
and after that block of near 760 good sectors

and all of that are repeated again and again.....

If that hd has 4 heads it seems that 1 head dont read anything....
