IBM GXP75 DTLA307045 with "click of death" ?!

cheers to the specialists...
I have the HDD above and it clicks and clicks. does not report itself to the BIOS...
I have a running donor. It is a DTLA307045, too.
But the defective drive is IBM P/N: 07N5640 and the donor says P/N: 07N3931. both drives are from Hungary.
PCBs are from Romania.
some coil controller: 90G2018.
but CPU are different :-(

defective: IBM 45L6704
donor: Mitsu M37980F8

the HDD spins up fine, heads are coming off parking slot, but do not find servo info (?) go back to park and have a retry...
this clicks and clonks...

if I swap PCBs both drives do not work.
I swapped serial EEprom, but donor PCB with EEPROM from donor HDD does not spin up.

do you have any ideas for an approach.
I do have a koettermann flo box (clean room operatings are possible)

Hi,

If it clikcks, it is possibly a head problem. And this way you only need the heads from the donor, nothing to do with the boards.

I think it is much more easy to swap the platters instead of changing the heads...?!?

Yes, I know.
But I think there are just 3 Heads applied, as it it 45GBs.
The heads are sooo small and extremely damageable...
when they are "parked" they are away from the platters, so I could swap these. but swapping the heads - I have never done this...

Ok,
Once moving the platters there are no way to ajust sectors on the disk.
And other to remove the platters you must remove the heads somehow or other.
Just swept whole voice coil.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean, no.
If U remove the platters, it is almost impossible to ensure the position of all the platters in the donor. To replace the heads it is easy in IBMs, because they park the heads off the disks, as U probably know. So it is really easy to remove. By the way you may experience problems as $amo said if it has 6 heads. With 4 heads I have over 90% success rate in IBMs.

I think, I am getting it:
you mean to swap the whole arm with heads and stuff... not to unsolder the heads...
will try my best and some other ideas and keep you posted on this!
