Need FW for Maxtor 2F040J0310211

July 7th, 2005, 5:50

Hi everybody. I need a loader and modules for Maxtor 2F040J0310211 (K,M,B,A). I tried all loaders from zirochka.com, but without success. I noticed that they are for PCBA A2FFA or B2FFA. In my case it is A8FFA. Please, send me all you got for this drive!

Hi,

What is wrong with the 'all other' loaders? If the problem is that none can write the SA correctly then you may create a loader from the patient after loading an ldr that can read the SA (most will). Then use that.

The problem is that most of the modules are unreadable with wrong loader....

How do you know what is the right loader ??

Hi,

According to my experience if a loader is not appropriate three sindromes can occur:
1. Loader uploading finishes with an error: isn't loaded at all,
2. Drive hangs after loading,
3. You can read modules pefectly (as far as they are readable), but it is not possible to record (SA write test fails).

If U can read modules, you can try to make a loader and use that for recording.

Hi. If the loader is appropriate it should load successfully in normal mode , not safe mode (jumpers), only the part from the SA. In my case this is not possible - I have to load the ROM part first and then the SA part. I have noticed that the different PCBA's use different Poker chips. It is Poker D.3 on A8FFA and Poker D.8 on B2FFA. Therefore I need a loader intended for Poker D.3 chip.

Even if the LDR is appropriate it may not start the drive in normal mode.
It is better to start in SM, read modules and made LDR.
