hello!
i'm lost at this. got 2 Travelstar drives and 2 Thinkpads.
both drives behave just fine when connected to PC. can do anything. in any of Thinkpads 'no disk present' and not recognized in IBM/Ontrack Disk Manager. in thinkpad Drive Fitness Test tests and erases them jus fine, in mhdd you can play around with them too.
please, any ideas greatly appreciated

Maybe BIOS doesn't support these drives? Are they large drives? How old are your Thinkpads?

laptops oldish but not extremely old, TP 600E and 560Z, PII 400 & PII 300. funny thing is drives were working, i assume, just fine in these laptops until guys (my friends) used machines up to point where everything was to be reinstalled. drives are 10 and 18 GB. even if BIOS doesnt recognize, Ontrack Disk Manager should, i think? i'll try to update bios, see what happens.
