I need a loader for Quantum AS A1Y.5400. Is it possible to create a loader from modules?
Mail it to hdd_magic@mail.bg

I do not think so.
All Loaders for Quantum drives are made from ACE.
Actualy there are two kind for AS drives.

Loaders are taken a bite from update firmware and UDMA change utility. By the way, why is not present loader for EL.

Hi guys! I found something interesting with this drive that might be of help for you. The drive had the original PCBA which seemed to be OK. The drive couldn't initialize and rejected all loaders I tried. I was able, however, to identify the loader version by going to "drive passport" submenu. I found the following versions: A1Y.2500, A1Y.3300, A1Y.1300 and A1Y.4500. None of them was able to start the drive. Then I tried other PCB's known as good . With two of them it did the same thing, but with the third the drive initialize successfully! :)
I came to the conclusion that there exist at least two version of PCB's that are not competable - maybe one for UDMA33 and one for UDMA100?!

Common guys! I'm not so stupid... ASRx and ASYx are using different PSB's (Atlatis and Atlantis PreMP)! I'm talking about different versions of Atlantis. Since they do not have external flash chip the difference could be only in the ROM microcode...

Sorry.
Then why don't you read the rom code out and compare?
BTW I don't think it is not possible to create a loader. Just look into one LDR and see the structure. It contains only normal modules, except mod E0 which doesn't seem to be a real module on the disk. I wrote some code that reads service tracks sequentially and I didn't find this module anywhere in the SA. I believe all the other modules in the loader can be substituted with other modules/versions as long as each one is replaced.
