Maxtor CALYPSO - 6Y080L0 - How to fix firmware?

First, i would like to say Hello to all in this forum. I am new here and i try to use search but not find any concrete answer HOW to fix a problem with my HDD. I dont understand Rusian and i am not so good in English but i will try to explain what is wrong.I spend so many time on google etc. and now i find this forum.
OK, lets go to the problem:

HDD: Maxtor
MA6Y080L0
FW: YAR41BW0 (that one is written on HDD. Now i see something else??)

When i connect HDD in PC i get for example:
Primary master: MAXTOR CALYPSO and then i get message: Primary master hard disk failed.

If i understand (and teach) right, there is a problem with firmware on HDD. I get PC300 software on some kind of "system tools CD" with many programs on it. Most of them are in Japan or Russian language. But i find PCMX_PKR.EXE program and try to run it. Program starts and after few seconds stops ?? I also find some LDR files but without "flash" program to use it.

Is there any simple explanation HOW the hell can i fix this problem? Should i made MS DOS floppy disk? What i must put on? How should be configured config.sys and other files? I see on one French forum there i must set jumpers in "safe mode". How can i do that. I dont find anywhere any picture of that, only classic MASTER; SLAVE; CS...settings.

If i forgot something to mention, please let me know. And please HELP ME

I also write email on maxtor.com if they can send me any tool, but their answer was "stupid". They said that maxtor can not repair lost data from HDD and send me some stupid google,yahoo,altavista links with (HDD+data+repair) words.

Hi.

I see you have some progs and stuff. Now U should accept some concerns.
1. FW repair is not a task one can do first time. It is highly probable that you damage the drive forever (maybe a professonal DR specialist cannot recover your drive after) if U use those programs without training or experiencing on defective drives that has no important data on it.
2. I understand that if U take it to a professional data recovery person it may cost some $$$, but U may have a chance to see your files once again.
3. It is far from sure that you are facing FW problem. It might be head related not less probably.

Dont tell me about "using that programs" hahaha. I allready delete partition on my working HDD and spend a few hours yesterday to get data back :wink:

. I just wanna know is this procedure simple or not and what is it like (step by step). I dont have any important data on disk and last thing is that i thinking about paying some crazy numbers in € or $ to some company who have bootable floppy disk and can solve this in few minutes

I would rather throw HDD in trash and tell everybody : "DO NOT BUY MAXTOR, their HDDs are bad....."

I have a lot of programs, loaders itd.. but dont know how to use them. FAQ or HELP in Russian language dont count because i cannot use them.

Nobody can repair your drive in five minutes. Or... One could, but He is living up in heaven

. But i still wanna know is that precedure realy need a few days or maybe "just" few hours ? Somewhere on this site i read that i can probably solve my problem with PC300 (software). I have version 14 (emule) but i have some questions again. CD is not bootable, so i must boot PC from floppy. I understand (now) how autoexec.bat and config.sys must be but i still dont know which version of DOS i must use ? And offcours: What is the jumper settings on HDD? Master, slave or "safe". If SAFE, how ?

If data is not important, why don't you just put the drive on the self or sell it to someone who needs its parts?
BTW I don't like hacked-cracked-stolen stuff, for that I definitely won't give any help here.
Many paid lots of $$$ for the stuff and the docs and the support(?).
And some people spent some years developing it.
Either U should buy it and get help somewhere else, or do simply do not use it, IMHO.

Hmmm. I think this is wrong forum for me.
I understand that a lot of You MAYBE SOMETIMES has repaired HDD and i belive that you spend a lot of time to teach HOW TO. OK. But if this forum is just for having fun from people who need help and dont know how to fix some problems... jou can close it today.
When i read your replies i think that most of member are just chating.Some of You maybe know the solution but you lives in some stupid ideas : " If I must learn, you must learn too and spend hours, days, years etc..." This is seek!
I repeat again: I dont need any data from HDD so i wont pay any € or $ or cent for this. I need help for my private needs, not commercial! For god sake, it is only one HDD with price maybe 40€ today.

I give the simple question and all i need is simple answer. If you dont know it or you wont give it, beter dont write anything. If solution is not so simple, is it really hard to write that ?

Sorry, I didn't want to offend you.
From my point of view you are not in need of anything since U don't need the data on the disk. One drive is not worth the efforts and it is 99 percent that U ruin the drive more than it is ruined now. That is what Fujimax and I tried to say. There is no 'one-click' remedy for your problem, and nobody can give U a step-by-step HDD repair guide.
What I tried to say was that if U are interested for more than one HDD U shall buy something and sit for some nights to get EXPERIENCE and learn many things.
It is so simple.
And there is one more argument not to be offended: we spend our time writing U answers for your question.

It is a kind of "what the fu.., one HDD wil not fu..k me" heheh. That is all about. To fix something and LEARN. You newer know when you will need that. Maybe someday i will have the same problem plus (Please God NO) some important data on HDD.

This is copy-paste from some french forum. This will explain why i have idea that could be easy (more than i think and read now here) :cry:

flasher un hd c'est compliqué, c'est étonnant que hp mette à dispo les fhichiers et le soft.

voici ce qu'il faut faire avec un maxtor ide

type of your CPU ?
DSP or POKER?
if DSP, you need Pcmx_dsp.exe
if POKER - Pcmx_pkr.exe
then in safe mode of your Maxtor hdd (jumper II: and motor in safe mode is not work!!!
load FIRMWARE with modules
if OK!........Load RAM
if ok! .........go to standart mode.....correct P-LIST,G-LIST,U-LIST
You can read modules also and full servise information.
close program
power OFF
jumper to normal mode !!!!!(master or slave)
power on
Thats all you WIN!!!

donc, le soft de flash à utiliser diffère suivant le chipset du hd, il faut diposer des bons fichiers ldr et ram, et il faut connaitre la position jumper safe mode.

if you haven't some tools like pc3000 or hdd repair tool, maybe you can not repair your 6Y080L0. you konw, repair hdd's SA not an easy thing, luck to you!

I have PC3000 but only software. Is it enough or i need PCI card too? And nobody tell me wich version of DOS i must use for boot from floppy. I figured out how to configure autoexec and config file. And one more question. This "bad HDD", on which port i must conect it? Because in config.sys there is a few lines about c:\PC3000\DOS itd....

I am little confused now. If i understand right, i can connect some small HDD on primary master (this will be disk C), copy pc3000 on it and sort directories as i need. This bad HDD (maxtor) ? Should i give it in as primary slave or secondary master?

I know this is maybe stupid questions for you but please, help me. I have a feeling that i can maybe fix it
