Compaq hard drives

September 1st, 2005, 8:20

Greetings.

I never read in this forum about Compaq hard disks, but I hope you can help me, as I am no expert on drive hardware repair.

In my company we have several Compaq servers and at this moment two failed array drives. I have no PC3000 or HRT, just MHDD 4.6, Scsitool 1.04d and, if necessary, a SCA/UW adapter to connect the disks to my PC.

I really don't know the capabilities of the array controller diagnostics, so before buying the adapter I need to know if I have any chance with drives put out of comission by drive bay lights. Also I would appreciate any hints on software to diagnose disks of this specific brand.

Best regards,

Daniel
