I need help with my WD HDD

March 11th, 2006, 23:42

Hey all, some time ago I bought a WD1200BB brand spanking new. It was intended to go into my softmodded xbox so I could backup my games onto the hard drive and not use the original disc so it stays nice and safe. Softmodded xbox's wont boot an unlocked hard drive so I had to use this program called XBoxHDM v1.9 to format it into XFAT i think and lock it. The eeprom from the xbox was required for the hard drive password or something Im not to sure, it was awhile ago.

Anyway if I remember correctly when I first tried to lock it I thought everything went smooth and threw it into my xbox, started it up and got an error code that means no hard drive or unlocked hard drive. So I tried to lock it using my computer again and it gave me a message about: Security enabled - not locked. Umm to skip to the point I can't even try unlock it now using that program. I was told that the IDE channel might be locked and to try connecting it to the IDE cable after i've booted the computer up or get an older computer (which I can't).

So what can I do, will MHDD help?

Edit: Oh yeah I just remember when I first locked it, it said drive locked, then tried to boot it in my xbox and it gave me Error 05. Then i tried to lock it again using xboxhdm and it said locking hdd... error hdd locked. But it wasn't locked. Also I still have the hdd password and everything.

Err I wasn't advertising... I genuinely need help with this, that place is basically the only computer store apart from Harvey Norman and such in my town. I'm not particulary sure if any techs will be able to fix this..
