Yes, is true story. I have tried for maxtor 2f040l0 detected Ares, is succesfull but only 1 minute . (I was have replacement head for twice, but only recovered 20% data because the head and plater is damaged and can't repaire firmware ). I frustated and do the imposible choice.
Believe or Not? Make the experience.

Freezing the disk or bumping it against the table can work by miracle, but generally speaking, data repair and recovery is based less on faith and more on cold scientific facts.
Leave this kind of voodoo for the legions of "computer experts" who write in computer magazines. If you understand the mechanics of a hard disk, than you also understand that these methods raise the chances of putting you data in coma.

Hello,
this technique worked for me in very few cases for a really short time.
In theese cases there was an unstable head causing the drive clicking.
I agree with Daniel that to do this U must be really lucky and one cannot build a business uppon such technology, rather we must develop head replacement technologies and of course gather some spare parts as well
regards,
pepe
