MAXTOR ATHENA WAK21R90 541DX B1HS1KFE POKER C.6

April 15th, 2006, 23:09

Would like to know if somebody have the same problems with Maxtor Athena, WAK21R90, 541 DX, Poker C.6.
The bios detects the drive, but can't load the system; also it should not be recognised as Athena but something else as before the problem.
I got a software ware that doesn't (http://www.salvationdata.com/download.htm) work in this specific chip (poker c.6) and another soft here http://pchdd.narod.ru/index_e.htm that should load the new firmware WAK23J8Z but I'm confusing about how to do it, if somebody would tell me maybe could rescue this wonder drive.

PLEASE :horse: :horse: :horse: HELP ME OBIIWAN YOU ARE THE ONLY...

this is the Factory Alias for this model of drive.

Maxtor Athena, WAK21R90

This situation is caused by a corrupted G-List in the firmware at the negative track in the hard disk.

This failure can be rectified with the re-writting of the G-List.

Email to me and I will mail you the relevant software to flash and the G-List repacemant.

I think that MHDD will be able to help you realise the real problem, if it is correctly recognised by the BIOS. ( I hope I understood you and it is recognised correctly and not as an Athena).

rMaxtor Athena, WAK21R90, 541 DX, Poker C.6.

Hi VSC:

I hope that there would be a solution diferent to use the "Salvation Software", that in intended NOT for the "poker c.6" chip in the pbc.

I tried that software and didn´t work.

At last found the software to Load the firmware HDDRepair

October 16th, 2006, 3:52

Hi Guys:

I found the software to load the firmware for the maxtor Athena in here: _http://arfaizy13.sitesled.com/hddrepair.zip,

You have to follow the instructions given by Borys, in this forum: _http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=25359&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=0&sid=9d826410f7a3b3e41e0139fc9ae1d3ec , found all the instances of Borys, and do it exactly as he says .
But you will find the firmware ( Loader and ram/bin files plus modules)in here: _http://pchdd.narod.ru/maxtor.html

Glory! Enjoy !

Anyone have information about HDD Repair V1.1 usage?

Here, trying to repair a G-List of a DiamondMax 8 20 Gb (6E020L0) without success.

Any information would be very appreciated!

Thanks!

The ATHENA drives suffer with a common failure, which is firmware damage, and is common in ALL slimline maxtors (ARESC64, N40P, ATHENA) most common reason for failure is the GLIST but the firmware is made of many critical modules any of which can be responsible.

Regardless of any software and firmware fixes available on the internet the only real way to repair this drive is to use PC3000. If you do not have PC3000 or the knowledge behind using it then you need to send your drive to a specialist.

If you intend on repairing the disk, be warned that you will very likely have many bad sectors after repair and is recommended NEVER to use disk for storage again!!
