The Maxtor 6E030L0 failed with not much warning!!

The HDD suddenly gave me a dreaded click of death when in middle of a scanning session!! 
Then still the same clicking after I rebooted and the BIOS won't detect it anymore!!
There wasn't any warning of it going to this stage!!
The SMART status was still good, not even any relocated sectors, according to the SMART!!
I dunno why the SMART didn't show more problems?
