Samsung SV4012H

Hi.
I'm having a big problem with my hard disk, without any reason it spins down after a loud 'click' sound, then Windows freezes for a 10 seconds. Sometimes everything comes back to normal, but normally I get a BSOD with MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION and error: 0x0000009C (0x00000004, 0x80545FF0, 0xB2000000, 0x00070F0F).

Here's log from MHDD:

Any suggestions, what's happening?

June 11th, 2006, 14:10

I do not think its a HDD problem... HDD looks fine

June 11th, 2006, 14:22

Ok, so I'll check cables, maybe there's something wrong with connectors...

June 12th, 2006, 11:58

Cables are ok, everything seems to be ok, but disk is still freezing. It goes something like this: HD spins down, Windows freezes, loud click sound, platters spins down and then up again, another loud click, platters spinning down and up and so on till a BSOD appear.
Could it be serious? For now it is still possible to fully acces disk but for how long it will work...

Hi,

it might be that the power connector has bad contact, try to make the slots thinner in the connector (on the cable) with a small screwdriver.

Thanks for replies! I'll try that.
BTW it's possible that it actually could be power supply problem. I've disconnected on of my CD-ROMs and now system is more stable...
Thanks again
